Tips and race by race preview for Friday’s night meeting at Canterbury

6. Peshiera He’s got the outside gate but it’s a race without a lot of speed, so he’ll have little trouble making up for that with the long run down the back. It’s only one win for him from 12 starts, but he’s been racing consistently and this looks like a good chance for him.
Dangers: 4. Miss Space Girl He has an honest record and is moving on after not having much luck at Midway in June. The winner of the last trial is OK with the draw and should be as competitive as ever. 7. Written Scandal After initially running the 900m well, he was disappointed to not be able to run at Warwick Farm a month ago despite it being a fast course that day. 3. Titanium Lady Picking up where he left off at Rosehill, he hit a difficult road and had not been disgraced there a few weeks earlier. He’s fitter, he’ll appreciate the better ground.
How to play: Peschiera WON.

Race 5: 20:00 KIA EVENING STAR (1250M)

3. Intuitive He looks very well placed for the new stable if he can deliver Randwick’s tough second-place effort. He raced three deep on pace and continued to battle for second. He’s a few steps behind in that regard, just needs some luck and should get close to it.
Dangers: 5. Flight crew He looks to be returning to form after being held up late on a heavy track by Taxation at Rosehill. The inside wicket is a plus for him and if he can maintain his form now he will be on the money. 7. Out of the Press The result after Wagga’s consecutive wins is very interesting. Last time we made a great effort from behind a wide door. There’s good artwork here and it’s no surprise to see it measure up as it has a solid Highway form. 2. Mafia While on the market it was a bit disappointing at Midway in Randwick. He closes his eyes and tends to put himself in the line of fire.
How to play: Heuristic GAIN.

Race 6: 20:30 OGALO HANDICAP (1550M)

6. Natural Inference He faces six opponents and if he comes back well his chances are very good. The first run last time was pleasing and he stood no chance on this heavy-soil track before making up for third place. If you hold the line well on your last try, it would be a surprise if it wasn’t competitive.
Dangers: 3.Debello He seems to have control from the front and it will depend on how he decides whether he gets crushed or not. He can run a little sometimes. Very crafty at Hawkesbury before leading the Four Pillars and finishing sixth. Go well. 5. Verbil He has stepped down in class after finishing third behind Midnight Dynamite at Randwick two weeks ago. He has a good record and should be able to race here. 2. Broadway Bouncer He went through the Four Pillars and moved up to fifth when the race ended. This is a race he can run well.
How to play: ALL-WAY Natural Interruption.

Race 7: 21.00 SUPER NASH BROTHERS HANDICAP (1900M)

3. Blacklist finds a winnable race while increasing the distance on his third run for the new stable. The fresh effort at Port Macquarie, won over 2400m at Sandown before changing camp, was solid on the trip and was very close to Eagle Farm last time out. He pulls one and grabs every chance.
Dangers: 5. Mediaro He had some disagreements in the win over Newcastle a few weeks ago. This was a huge improvement over his previous effort, so now it’s on him to maintain his form and he may well do that here too. 9. Magical Pharaoh He probably didn’t like the conditions at the Hawkesbury when he was left out as favourite, but his previous pair were serviceable on ground. It is not a strong race and can be exposed. 6. North Terrace He is competing well with one win at provincial level and three-thirds of the last four. You may have to proceed through the door, and that’s a chance both ways.
How to play: Get blacklisted.

Race 8: 21:30 METRO PETROL HANDICAP (1100M)

1. Istolea Merc While he was the favourite, he lost all his chances early in the race in second place at Randwick. I slowly stepped into a shadow and came out from behind and did not run. He accelerated as he gained new victories in a dominant manner, and these tactics made him difficult to beat.
Dangers: 3. Balkans He enjoys this track and finished fourth from the back in the same race at Randwick. He will get a nice pass from wicket one and is more than capable of winning. 2. Confess Our Dreams There was another entry in that race two weeks ago and he raced fiercely throughout the race and it was no surprise that he crashed. The promise of a better run could see him return to his best form. 5. Hill He continued with a few tries and it looked good to win the second one. Generally around the mark and in the top three every time it’s fresh. Keep it in mind.
How to play: Istolea Merc WON.
