Woman charged with murdering partner’s mother in Melonba home
A 50-year-old woman has been charged with murdering her partner’s 84-year-old mother at the home they shared in north-west Sydney last month.
The body of 84-year-old Irene Selmes was found in the bedroom of her home in Melonba on October 4 by a family member who later called Triple Zero. Selmes lived at home with his son and his partner.

In a statement, NSW Police said an autopsy revealed Selmes allegedly suffered “serious injuries”, including to his upper body, before he died.
The young woman was arrested in her pajamas shortly before 3pm on Thursday after heavily armed police raided the house on Comet Street, the address where Selmes’ body was found.

The defendant was taken to Mount Druitt police station on Thursday evening where he was charged with domestic violence-related murder.
The woman, who was refused bail, is expected to appear before Mount Druitt Local Court on Friday.
