President Donald Trump paused a busy Oval Office day to greet visiting children, hand out small gifts and say “My name is Donald” in a sweet moment captured by Communications Advisor Margo Martin and shared online.
The short clip, viewed hundreds of thousands of times within hours of its release, had a more subdued impact during a busy news cycle as the government shutdown ended, giving supporters and critics alike a glimpse of the president’s softer side.
The video reached nearly 500,000 views within two hours of being posted on Martin’s X account. Martin frequently shares behind-the-scenes footage of Trump that can’t be seen anywhere else.
“He wants to know what your name is,” an off-camera speaker says in the video.

In the video, Trump can be seen offering contest money to children who are the grandchildren of journalist Salena Zito. The White House told Fox News Digital that the children stopped by to say hello.
The video is the latest in a string of sweet moments Trump has shared with some of his youngest supporters, including coloring with kids at the Easter Egg Roll earlier this year. He is the grandfather of eleven grandchildren.

“She said yes, she’s very smart,” Trump said laughingly in the video, adding with a grin: “She’s so sweet.”
“This is a grandpa doing the things grandpa does,” one commenter said under the video, while another added “kindness is beyond politics” with a hands-folded emoji.
Moments like these have routinely dominated social media, as viral interactions caught on camera can break the news cycle and provide massive digital reach to the White House.
