Former judge arrested for hitting Atlanta police officer has charges mostly dismissed
Former Douglas County Probate Judge Christina Peterson was arrested following an altercation at the Red Martini club in Atlanta in June last year. Most of the charges have now been dismissed.
During his interaction with police, Peterson was charged with striking a police officer and obstructing law enforcement, two obstruction charges and a battery charge.
Channel 2 Action News reported that he was arrested In 2024, police released hours of body camera footage of the incident.
On Wednesday, a Fulton County judge dismissed an obstruction charge and a battery charge based on “will-to-prosecute” applications filed by the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office.

As previously reported, the incident began when Peterson tried to stop a man from attacking another woman at Red Martini.
The involvement of an off-duty officer led to an argument.
Body camera footage released by the Atlanta Police Department shows Peterson pushing an officer, but the former judge said at the time it was an accident.

Eyewitnesses of the incident told Channel 2 Action News He said Peterson did not intentionally hit an officer and was only trying to help the woman who was being attacked. The man involved fled and has not been identified.
Peterson’s attorney, Marvin S. Arrington, Jr., who is also a Fulton County Commissioner. had previously pressured Atlanta police to identify and arrest the man accused of attacking the other woman at the bar.
Throughout the trial, Arrington and Peterson maintained his innocence. Following Peterson’s arrest in June, Arrington called for the charges to be dismissed.
Now, Fulton County Prosecutor Fani Willis has done so, except for an obstruction charge that is still active.
Channel 2 Action News He has reached out to Arrington for comment on the dismissal of the charges against his client and is awaiting a response.
