CM inaugurates modernised Periyar Nagar library and co-working hub in Kolathur

Chief Minister MK Stalin on Friday inaugurated the modernized Periyar Nagar library and ‘Mudhalvar Padaippagam’, a co-study center in Kolathur, developed by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) at a cost of ₹ 5.24 crore under the North Chennai Development Plan.

According to the official press release, the modernized facility includes air-conditioned library halls, training rooms, 70,000 books and e-learning facilities, among other features. Mudhalvar Padaippagam was first launched on November 4, 2024 at Jaganathan Street in Kolathur and has received strong support from students and competitive exam aspirants since then.

A total of 4,489 enterprising entrepreneurs, mostly women, benefited through ‘Mudhalvar Padaippagam’.

CMDA is currently working to establish 27 ‘Mudhalvar Padaippagams’ in addition to the existing ones across the city, the statement said.

Sub-Registrar Office

The Chief Minister also inaugurated the newly constructed building for Periyamedu Sub-Registrar Office, constructed at a cost of ₹ 3.86 crore. He also laid the foundation stone of a new Peravallur Police Station, which will be built at a cost of ₹ 68 lakh on the Periyar Government Hospital campus. He inspected the ongoing construction of Kolathur Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Office and Dialysis and Rehabilitation Center on Jaganathan Street, which were built at a cost of ₹ 11.37 crore and ₹ 11.74 crore respectively.

At the Secretariat in Chennai, various associations of government employees and teachers appealed to Mr. Stalin and thanked him for announcing a three per cent increase in the State government’s affection allowance. The newly appointed chairman and ex officio members of the Fishermen’s Welfare Board also called on the Prime Minister.
