Meghan Markle’s shocking return to acting proves she’s now in “full-fledged celebrity mode”, a branding expert has claimed. The Duchess of Sussex sent shockwaves around the world last week when it was revealed she was finally making a return to acting after being spotted filming a new movie in Los Angeles, hours before Prince William’s big speech at the Earthshot Awards in Brazil.
Prince Harry’s wife was spotted filming Close Personal Friends at Amazon MGM Studios in Pasadena for the first time in eight years. The film features a star-studded cast such as Lily Collins, Brie Larson, Jack Quaid. [son of Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid]and Henry Golding.
According to sources, the Duchess will only have a small role in the film; It’s about two couples, one famous and one not, who meet in Santa Barbara and become fast friends.
But a brand and culture expert said Meghan’s cameo had a deeper meaning.
Nick Ede told news week: “Meghan is in full-fledged celebrity mode now. You know, on the Kardashians. At Kris Jenner’s birthday. Attending Paris Fashion Week.”
“So I think this is the next step for him in many ways, to see if there’s some appetite for him to get back into acting.”
Meanwhile, royal commentator Afua Hagan claimed the duchess was back in her “comfort zone, in the wheelhouse”.
Ms Hagan said Meghan could still test the waters for something bigger in the future.
She told the outlet: “He’s dipping his toe in to see how he feels about being back on set, to see what the reactions are like. But he’s got a portfolio career, right? I think it’s just part of it, it’s a fun thing to do. I think it’s a ‘let’s see how it’s going to come out’ kind of energy.”
Mr. Ede agreed, adding: “This is kind of a good litmus test to see what the outcome is,” Ede said. “Obviously, he knows that everything he does will take column inches.
“And if you’re a movie or a studio, that’s something you really want.
“I don’t think this will be a one-off. I suspect this is a way of dipping their toes back in to see what the reaction will be.”
