Erin Murphy never planned to be a face without makeup or a facelift, but she felt it was important for her to post a bare-faced selfie that recently went viral to remind people: “If you’re going to write something, write something beautiful.”
“I think it’s important because I’m a mother, I’m a grandmother, and everyone is on social media, and I think people tend to lead with something negative,” the 61-year-old, who played Tabitha on the 1960s sitcom “Bewitched,” told Fox News Digital.
Murphy said that he shared a photo of himself with his twin sister and that some people made negative comments that hurt his sister’s feelings. “There were comments about me that could have been complimentary, but they were not,” he said.
She said people say the only reason she looks good is because she’s had several facelifts.

“That’s why I put it there,” she explained in an Instagram post, which read in part: “This is 61…No facelift, no makeup.”
Murphy told Fox News Digital: “I didn’t want to say anything other than, you know, if you write something, write something nice. Maybe take a moment and think about it… But it seems so strange that people tend to gravitate towards the negative.”
He said that he did not want to “be the face of those who did not have a facelift.” I definitely don’t want to call out anyone who has had a facelift. So this is also something where this kind of thing takes on a life of its own. [people say] ‘Erin is all natural and Erin will never have any makeup.'”
Even though he said he wasn’t considering having a facelift, he didn’t rule it out.

“And there is no shame in anyone who does this,” he stressed. “What I’m trying to say is that people can do whatever they want to do, people should feel good about themselves, and no one should let strangers tear them down online.”
He added, “So it was more about bullies and the appropriate use of social media and that’s why I put it out there.”
‘MAGICAL’ ACTRESS ERIN MURPHY POSTS NAKED PHOTOS TO DISASTE CONTINUOUS FACE EDIT RUMORS
Murphy said she loves makeup, joking, “That’s the funny thing because now I’m kind of my makeup-free face.”

She continued, “Obviously, I’ve been interested in makeup since I was a kid and I’ve seen how it can change other actors on the show. So, when you see someone come in in the morning without makeup and suddenly they look like a completely different person, there’s magic in that.”

The former child actor’s makeup routine is something she describes as a “five-minute facial,” and she said she goes both “low-end and high-end” when it comes to skin care.
“I wash my face with jojoba oil, and you can too — I get mine at Trader Joe’s — but you can get it anywhere. So it’s kind of like figuring out what works for your skin because everyone is different,” she explained, adding that she also gets facials from time to time.

She’s not very good at doing anything cosmetically. “It’s mostly like current affairs. I use good skin care,” she said.
Murphy uses Retin-A about once a month because “It does great things for your skin… I also drink more water than most people, and that makes a big difference.”
Speaking of makeup, Murphy said she was interestingly hired on “Bewitched” because she looked more like TV mom Elizabeth Montgomery’s character suburban witch Samantha Stephens than the actual actress.

“She wasn’t one to wear a lot of makeup outside of the show,” Murphy explained. “People always say, ‘Wow, you look so much like Elizabeth Montgomery.’ I look more like Samantha than Elizabeth Montgomery, if that makes sense, because they hired me to look like her character.”
She continued, “She didn’t really look like Samantha off-screen. Does that make sense? Like some people – I wear makeup when I go to the grocery store. I love dressing up. It’s like everyone is different that way. She wasn’t really a fashion person. She wasn’t really into that kind of thing.”
She said her hair right now is “probably the easiest hair a woman can have” and that she hasn’t cut it in a year and a half.

“I like to trim the ends myself occasionally, and I get highlights twice a year,” she added.
Murphy, a mother of six and grandmother of five, said her exercise routine is about “being an active person.”

“I’m very, very interested in the lives of little ones,” she said, adding that she loves taking them to the zoo.
She said she doesn’t go to the gym because she lives on the beach, but she wakes up every morning to stretch and do some yoga.

“Maybe it’s 10 minutes of stretching and bending,” he said. “And I’m just active. I don’t know, I like being outside… I think if you get out and move, it works, at least for me.”
As the holidays approached, Murphy said he was eating “everything.”

“I think the biggest mistake people make is going on crazy diets where you limit yourself to one type of food or are heavy on this and low on that,” he said. “I believe in moderation and everyone can have a cake. You can’t have the whole cake… I eat whatever I want in moderation.”
“This is one of the first years I haven’t made Thanksgiving myself,” he continued. “I don’t know, I’ve spent over 30 years on Thanksgiving and enjoyed the whole meal myself. So if you’re a parent, I like to let the transitions change and as your kids get older, just kind of let them do their own thing.”
