West Bengal: Abhishek to launch healthcare outreach initiative ‘Sebaashray 2’ from Dec 1

Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee will launch a new version of the ‘Sebaashray’ health support scheme in his constituency Diamond Harbor from December 1.

“Only 15 days left! Under the leadership and initiative of @abhishekaitc, #Sebaashray 2 will commence on December 1, 2025, bringing with it the commitment to provide compassionate, reliable and quality healthcare to every household in Diamond Harbour,” Trinamool Congress said on social media.

The West Bengal ruling party also added that “this version of the health camp has been thoughtfully designed to ensure a seamless and dignified experience for all.” “It will bring together specialist doctors, provide essential medicines free of charge, facilitate critical diagnostic tests and establish an orderly referral system so that no one is left out of the care they need,” the Trinamool Congress said.

The announcement, made ahead of the Assembly elections in the state, is important as it is an attempt to reach out to voters in the South 24 Parganas of the state. In January 2025, the Trinamool general secretary had launched the ‘Sebaashray’ initiative under which hundreds of free medical camps were set up in Diamond Harbour, his Lok Sabha constituency.

Mr. Banerjee has been representing Diamond Harbor since 2014 and won the Lok Sabha polls in 2024 by a margin of over 7 lakh votes. ‘Sebaashray’ health camps witnessed huge participation of local people and lasted for several weeks. With such initiatives concentrated in Diamond Harbor, his Lok Sabha constituency, Trinamool’s second-in-command has also tried to make a political mark apart from the West Bengal government’s plans.

Just a few weeks ago, Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Suvendu Adhikari had set up health camps in his Assembly constituency Nandigram and the Trinamool Congress had said that the BJP leader had copied Abhishek Banerjee’s ‘Sebaashray’ model.
