Dad storms school to confront daughter’s bully – but hit with penalty | World | News
A father has been suspended from his child’s school for a year following a series of heated arguments linked to allegations his daughter was being bullied. The Australian man, whose identity has not been released for legal reasons, confronted another student at a Queensland primary school who he believed was bullying his daughter. During the confrontation, he reportedly warned her: “Next time you come near my family and harass me [child’s name] I will make your sister harass you.”
“Understand? We’ve had enough,” he continued. “Stay away from our family.” He returned to school the next day and began yelling profanities at staff in the administrative office. Court records say he threatened to expose staff on social media, claiming he would take away “all your jobs, your fucking jobs” and warned them to “keep your hands off my kid.” He also recorded another conflict he had with the assistant principal and later posted it on social media.
Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) Christopher Taylor slammed the father’s behavior, describing it as “appalling”, “frightening” and “threatening”. The court found her actions could not be considered unreasonable, despite her disappointment with how the school handled her daughter’s bullying complaints.
Although the father sent an email to the school expressing his regret, the court heard he showed a “lack of insight” into the alarming and inappropriate nature of his behaviour. news.com.au.
In his tirade against school staff, the man said: “It’s okay, run the school the way you run it. Say hello to social media because I’m going to take all your jobs, your bloody jobs, you assholes. “If you want us to leave – it’s okay we leave – but be prepared.
“…and if you touch [child’s name] I swear once again, I swear to God. Keep your hands off my child. Do you understand? “Don’t touch my child.”
QCAT also rejected his request to shorten the ban so he could attend his child’s graduation. In its decision, the court warned that there was a risk of repeating similar behavior if it was not banned. The man received several warnings in August 2022 and June 2023 for “unacceptable behavior” towards another parent at the school, which resulted in a 60-day ban on school grounds for this incident.
Mr Taylor said: “His actions must be condemned as disgusting… An adult should never approach a young child in this way.”
“There is no justification for this. It should be a matter of warning.”
Mr Taylor said there was “no justification” for the abusive and vulgar language he used towards school staff, despite claiming he was disappointed the man did not take action against bullying allegations.
