Bangladesh: Death Sentence For Sheikh Hasina
A Bangladesh court on Monday found ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina guilty of crimes against humanity and she could face the death penalty for the verdict. Sheikh Hasina, 78, defied court orders to return from India to attend her trial on whether she ordered a deadly crackdown on the student-led uprising that toppled her in August 2024.
“All the elements that constitute a crime against humanity have been met,” Judge Golam Mortuza Mozumder told the crowded court in Dhaka, which was also broadcast live on national television.
