Hamas Says UN Gaza Resolution Doesn’t Meet Palestinians’ Rights

GAZA CITY: Hamas leaders in Gaza said they rejected Monday’s UN resolution calling for the deployment of an international force to the region, saying it did not respect the “demands and rights” of Palestinians.
“This decision does not meet the political and humanitarian demands and rights of our Palestinian people,” the Islamist militant group said in a statement. he said.
The statement also condemned the establishment of an international force that would include the disarmament of Palestinian groups in Gaza.
“The decision imposes an international tutelage on the Gaza Strip, which our people, our forces and its constituent groups reject,” the statement said. he continued.
The U.N. Security Council voted early Monday in favor of a U.S.-drafted resolution supporting President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan, which includes the deployment of an international force and a path to a future Palestinian state.
After the vote, there were 13 votes in favor of the text, which Washington heralded as “historic and constructive”, with only Russia and China abstaining but having no veto power.
