AUKUS is finding public support despite its many problems. Why?

results annual surveyA survey has been released asking the Australian public a wide range of questions about their views on Australia-China relations. The survey was conducted by the Institute of Australia-China Relations in collaboration with the UTS Center for Business Intelligence and Data Analytics.

One of the questions was about public support for AUKUS.

The percentage of respondents agreeing that purchasing nuclear-powered submarines under AUKUS would help protect Australia against military threats from China increased from 48% in 2024 to 50% in 2025.
