Australia
Liberals’ climate and migration ideas will raise taxes and inflation

What do climate denialism and immigration hostility have in common, apart from the fact that they are two issues currently galvanizing the Coalition?
First, both are obsessions of older, male, uneducated and regional voters. According to a Lowy Institute survey, more than half of all voters 30 believe net zero is good for Australia and less than a quarter think it is bad. For voters over 60, the situation is almost the opposite: almost half of older voters think net zero would make Australia worse off, while only a quarter think it would be beneficial.
