Girl, 11, dies one day after being ‘taken unwell’ in coastal Scottish town: Mother pays tribute as police probe ‘unexplained’ death

A heartbroken mother paid tribute to her ‘beautiful’ daughter who died at the weekend, while police said the teenager’s death is currently being treated as ‘unexplained’.
Olivia Curley, 11, was admitted to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Glasgow on Sunday after falling ill. He died the next day.
The Hermitage Academy student reportedly fell ill at home and was hospitalized before his condition worsened.
Police Scotland launched an investigation after confirming the woman’s death was treated as ‘unexplained’.
Samantha Curley, the 11-year-old’s devastated mother, has published a heartfelt message to her ‘dear lover’ who sadly passed away on Monday.
‘I really have nothing to say. I’m numb. “Thank you to everyone who reached out,” he wrote on social media.
‘My beautiful daughter gained her angel wings today as everyone around her passed away peacefully.
‘To his grandmother who was waiting for him. I know he will be well taken care of while my mother is waiting for him.

‘Fly high, honey. I promise to keep your little sister safe.’
His friends also shared their support for the grieving parent with a post: ‘My heart is broken for you.’
Another added: ‘Absolutely heartbreaking. ‘I can’t even imagine what you’re going through.’
Local MSP Jackie Baillie said: ‘This is extremely sad and my thoughts are with the family and everyone who has suffered this tragic loss.
‘It is important that we get answers to what caused this death to ensure this unthinkable tragedy is not repeated.’

Argyll and Bute council said it was ‘devastating’ to hear the news of the student’s death and offered support to the teenager’s loved ones.
A local council spokesman said: ‘We are devastated to hear of the death of one of our students who attended the Hermitage Academy in Helensburgh.
‘Our thoughts are with their families and friends at this terrible time. We provide ongoing support to staff and students at the school, as well as their families.’
A Police Scotland spokesman said: ‘At around 11.40am on Monday 17 November, we received a report of an 11-year-old girl falling ill in the Helensburgh area.
‘He was taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Glasgow on Sunday 16 November and died on Monday 17 November.
‘The death is being treated as an unexplained incident and investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.’
