Man accused of Huntingdon train stabbings faces more charges

The 32-year-old man accused of stabbing 10 people on the train was also charged with other offenses relating to the day before the attack.
Following an investigation, Anthony Williams, of no fixed abode, was charged with seven other offenses, including two counts of attempted murder, British Transport Police (BTP) said.
Mr Williams is charged with 10 counts of attempted murder in connection with the mass stabbing on the Doncaster to London King’s Cross service, which stopped in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, on the evening of November 1.
BTP said there were further charges relating to alleged incidents in Peterborough, Stevenage and on a train traveling between Hitchin and Biggleswade on October 31.
Mr Williams will later appear at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on the following charges:
- Attempted murder of 14-year-old boy on Peterborough’s Henry Penn Walk
- There was an attempt to cause grievous bodily harm to a 28-year-old man at Viersen Platz in Peterborough
- Attempted murder of 22-year-old man near Pleasure Fair Meadow Road in Peterborough
- Fighting and possession of a bladed article in connection with an alleged incident at Ritzy Barbers in Peterborough.
- Knife theft from Asda supermarket in Stevenage
- A routine attack by a 31-year-old man on a train traveling between Hitchin and Biggleswade.
BTP Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy said: “Our investigation into the horrific incident in Huntingdon also focused on any other crimes previously reported to police or identified by our investigation.
“We worked closely with the Crown Prosecution Service, as well as our colleagues at Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Police, to bring these charges.”
Passengers on the LNER service at 18:25 GMT on 1 November said a man armed with a knife began stabbing people after the knife passed through Peterborough.
It was diverted to an unscheduled stop, Huntingdon, prompting a major emergency response.
Mr Williams will appear at Cambridge Crown Court on December 1 to face attempted murder charges relating to the stabbings on the train and an alleged attack in London.
