Otto von Bismarck once said: “God has a special appreciation for fools, drunkards, and the United States of America.” For most of our history, the Iron Chancellor was right about the third part. Abundant resources, entrepreneurial spirit and a system that rewards innovation propelled us to global supremacy in the 20th century.

We invented the internet age, birthed the world’s most valuable tech giants, and now we’re leading the artificial intelligence revolution.

The artificial intelligence boom promises to be more eventful than the birth of the internet. This will lead to a higher quality of life for everyone in the first country to achieve AI dominance. Artificial intelligence is already being used in cancer detection and in the development of driverless vehicles that will reduce traffic deaths.

THE NEW ARMS RACE IS FOR THE COMPUTER — AND AMERICA CAN’T HURT BEING LEFT BEHIND

The AI boom is defining our economy, and we are now home to trillions of dollars of American AI innovation. America attracts 60% of global AI infrastructure investment and is home to the lion’s share of cutting-edge models that will help solve the problems of all Americans.

The growth of artificial intelligence is also the most important force driving the growth of our economy. A Harvard economist found that without data centers, GDP growth would have been just 0.1% in the first half of the year.

As Vanguard’s chief economist recently noted, without this boom, “we would have seen significantly weaker growth numbers.” AI infrastructure already supports more than 600,000 direct jobs (almost 1.5 times the total employment of our 16 automakers) and is expected to power our economy for decades to come.

But advantage is not destiny. If we stop, China will quickly pass us by and we will have to import the technology of the future instead of exporting it. Actually, A new report from The Wall Street Journal He underlined that the AI race against China is as “consequential” as the Cold War because the technology has “the potential to impact large segments of the global population.”

AMERICA’S SECRET WEAPON TO CRUSH CHINA IN THE GLOBAL AI RACE

That’s why we are both proud to launch this app. AI Infrastructure Coalition (AIIC) to ensure America finishes first.

The next five years will see $5 trillion in global AI infrastructure spending, and $15.7 trillion in economic value will be generated in the next decade. Victory in the AI race means millions of high-paying jobs, reproduction and technological exports that ensure our prosperity. Defeat means leaving everything to China, which will become the undisputed economic and military superpower.

China is closing the gap at great speed. It holds approximately 75% of global AI patents, and its models provide 80% to 90% of US capabilities at significantly lower costs. Chinese cloud providers are planning a 65% increase in capital spending in 2025, supported by subsidies that make energy essentially free for their firms.

THE RAPID RISE OF AI BRINGS NEW URGENTITY TO CONGRESS TO DELIVER AMERICAN ENERGY

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang warns bluntly: If we don’t act, “China will win the AI race.” If Beijing dominates, it will control autonomous weapons, cyber warfare, and global supply chains. American data, from health records to financial details, would pass through Chinese systems, exposing citizens to surveillance, manipulation and breaches.

As President Donald Trump declared, AI breakthroughs could “reshape the global balance of power.” Former President Joe Biden agreed: “We will not let America be left behind when it comes to the technology that will define the future.” They both understand that allowing China to export the robots and models that will power tomorrow’s world is not a scenario that would go well.

Instead of embracing the interests of this AI race, many politicians and experts resort to fear-mongering about AI. Surveys now show that 83% of Chinese citizens find AI useful, while only 39% in the US are optimistic

PROSPERITY ROAD WILL BE OPENED WITH AUTONOMOUS TRUCKS

Unfortunately, as always, the prevalent narratives put forward in the press and on social media are often simplistic and inaccurate. Data centers, we are told, are the reason many Americans face rising utility costs. Maine, which has a negligible number of data centers, saw the steepest year-over-year increases; Virginia, home to most, did not.

Goldman Sachs recently published an analysis of energy prices across the country and found that increases in electricity prices were most pronounced in states with heavy regulations that are retiring reliable energy sources. The firm noted that states with the lowest price inflation have “strong domestic resource availability (coal/wind/gas),” which, “along with ample supply, helps keep electricity rates lower.”

Water usage? Minimal and often recycled; Less than America’s golf courses. Fear of job loss? Recycled doomsday promise. Jeremy Rifkin’s 1995 prophecy of internet-induced mass unemployment turned out to be laughably wrong, and so is the current disaster. The nature of the AI infrastructure stack, from energy companies to data centers to hyperscalers like Google and Microsoft, means that the industry’s growth will require systems engineers, electricians, facilities managers, etc. This means it will require hiring. Google has already announced it will support the effort to train 100,000 new electrical workers.

As President Donald Trump declared, AI breakthroughs could “reshape the global balance of power.”

But if the United States is to remain the leading AI nation, we need common-sense reforms that allow. America needs to build its energy infrastructure and semiconductor manufacturing facilities. But one in five AI projects die let alone hell, jeopardizing a $64 billion investment. China has added 429 gigawatts to its energy capacity since the beginning of 2024; We managed to add 68 gigawatts.

Likewise, federal policymakers need to address the confusing tangle of AI laws across the country with sensible legislation that will override state laws. We need clear guardrails that protect people while allowing builders to build. The goal is simple: Unleash American creativity, don’t leave it dormant.

America can and must win the AI race. Let’s build the future here, power it with abundant energy, train our people to succeed in it, and let the profits flow to the American people.
