Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) former president YV Subba Reddy disclosed reports worth around $20 billion.addus It was misleadingly prepared using pure oil at the Tirumala temple between 2019 and 2024 and insisted that it was a propaganda-based leak to the media.
Condemning the reports, he expressed his determination to fully cooperate with the SIT investigating the incident and maintained that selective leaks to the media before scientific analysis was completed were dangerous and misleading.
In a press release, Mr. Subba Reddy said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s statements that animal fat was used in the preparation of laddus were malicious. Even before SIT finished its research, a narrative was established that the oil was adulterated.
He said the investigation should be allowed to conclude and the SIT should then decide the matter on scientific basis. Meanwhile, the media needs to look at facts rather than rumors.

Mr. Subba Reddy pointed out that the claims were inconsistent from the very beginning regarding the allegation that vegetable oil was mixed with ghee and later, while the laboratory tests were going on, the claim changed to animal fat.
He wanted to know whether the SIT had officially confirmed the existence of animal fat and said that since it was a matter of faith of millions of devotees, the statement should not be made without submitting the laboratory results.
Moreover, Mr. Subba Reddy said that the spread of politically motivated misinformation is damaging the sanctity of Tirumala and it is being used only to target the YSR Congress Party.
