Sherrie Hewson reveals she was once kicked under the table by Loose Women co-star Coleen Nolan after making an ‘outrageous’ comment on the ITV show

Sherrie Hewson has revealed she was once kicked under a table by her Loose Women co-star Coleen Nolan after making an ‘outrageous’ comment live on air.
The 75-year-old actress, who appeared on the ITV show from 2003 to 2017, said that although nothing was off-limits in her early years on the panel, she had recently discovered that speaking her mind could get her into trouble with her former co-stars.
To talk Sun she recalled in a new interview: ‘I went on Loose Women a few months ago and said something a bit nasty – I don’t remember what it was now – and Coleen kicked me under the table.’
I said on the air, “Don’t kick me,” and he replied: “But I like to kick you!” This kind of joke is what we need. ‘It’s the kind of atmosphere where it’s okay to attack each other a little bit and there’s no hard feelings.’
She also reflected on her early days on Loose Women, saying that she couldn’t remember anyone back then being ‘offended’ by anything she said or did.
He admitted: ‘Yes, we had our desks. I had awful arguments with Janet Street Porter; I’d tell him to shut up because I thought he was talking nonsense.’

However, he later added that the two would always laugh about this situation and emphasized that they both found it ‘very funny’.
He stated that his co-star was “talking nonsense” and then added, “maybe I was like that too.”
He said people should be able to agree to disagree because everyone has different opinions and should be free to express them.
It comes after Sherrie slammed ITV bosses for canceling the popular daytime show after weeks of running, branding the decision ‘cruel’.
From January, the program will only air for 30 weeks of the year, rather than airing all year round, as part of sweeping budget cuts.
Sherrie, who currently stars in Hollyoaks, warned the move would leave many elderly and vulnerable viewers deprived of the ‘lifeline’ the lunchtime panel show provides.
The actor, who volunteers in care homes, says he sees first-hand how important the show is for people with dementia.
She explained that watching Loose Women can feel like part of a conversation and may even give some a reason to live.
She recalled: ‘I went on Loose Women a few months ago and said something a bit nasty – I don’t remember what it was now – and Coleen kicked me under the table’ (LR Christine Lampard, Coleen, Sherrie, Andrea McLean, Janet Street-Porter and Brenda Edwards)
He continued: ‘I said on air: “Don’t kick me” and he replied: “But I like kicking you!” We need a joke like this.’
he said Sun on Sunday: ‘Women of all ages, from those up to 95 years old to young women with young children at home, it’s like therapy for them.
‘It is cruel and sad that they have decided to cut episodes of Loose Women, a show that can evoke anger and emotion.’
Sherrie also criticized ITV for cutting programs aimed at older viewers, noting that viewers over 55 watch more TV than other age groups, but they are the ones most ignored by broadcasters.
He said: ‘We all need somewhere to shout at the TV. Some people are lonely and this is a lifeline for them, the only discussion of the day they can really be a part of.’
Despite leaving the show in 2016 after four years, Sherrie insisted she still feels passionately about its importance.
He added that there are shows like Loose Women that help the older generation feel engaged.
The Daily Mail has contacted ITV for comment.
