A common debate among motorists is which service station is best, and as Christmas approaches many Brits will be hitting the road to celebrate with friends and family. Whether you’re driving on the highway or cruising through the countryside, Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents He recommends taking a 15-minute break every two hours of driving.

Whether it’s taking a short break to recharge, stretch your legs or refuel, it’s vital to take regular breaks to ensure journeys remain safe. With this in mind, you are welcome to have a suitable place to spend your break.

Northgate Car Hire has now produced a study looking at factors such as the number of electric charging points, parking prices and green spaces. Research has found Exeter services on the M5 to be the UK’s best service station.

Designed to appeal to all types of travellers, from long-distance drivers to those looking for a drink on the go, the service station has 56 electric vehicle charging points and 13 food and beverage outlets, and parking is free for two hours.

Located between junctions 14 and 15 on the M1, Newport Pagnell Southbound ranks as the second best service station in the UK. With plenty of green space to stretch your legs or your furry friends, the service station also has a variety of food and drink venues where you can refuel.

Fleet Services comes in third place. Located on the M3, Fleet is a popular choice for those heading to LEGOLAND Windsor. With 26 fast charging points and 16 food and drink outlets, Fleet has partnered with charity Electric Umbrella to add a bright yellow piano, giving visitors the chance to play and pause for a moment during their journey.
