Basaveshwar Hospital in Kalaburagi upgraded with ₹5 crore hi-tech medical equipment

Hyderabad-Karnataka Educational Society (HKES) has upgraded the Basaveshwar Teaching and General Hospital in Kalaburagi with advanced medical equipment worth ₹5 crore, giving the institution a major boost in emergency, surgical and critical care services.
Addressing a press conference after the inauguration of the High Dependency Unit (HDU) at the hospital complex in Kalaburagi on November 21, HKES president Shashil G. Namoshi said the Emergency Department has already started functioning. Due to the increasing number of outpatients, a new 40,000-square-foot urgent care facility is being developed on the fourth floor of the hospital. He stated that Basaveshwar Hospital currently provides around 95% of healthcare services free of cost and benefits thousands of patients from Kalyana Karnataka region.
Mr. Namoshi listed the newly installed equipment, including high-end operating tables, anesthesia machines, advanced electro-surgical generators, modern operating room lights, minimally invasive modular operating room workstations, multi-parameter monitors, ECG and ABG machines, ventilators, syringe pumps, ultrasound machines and sterilization systems. The upgrade also covers a wide range of diagnostic and support equipment such as ophthalmic testing devices, laboratory centrifuges, incubators, laminar air flow systems, microscopes, portable x-ray units, radiofrequency units, blood bank devices and a central monitoring system. Mr. Namoshi stated that these additions significantly increase the hospital’s surgical, diagnostic and critical care capabilities.
He said the community is also focusing on strengthening its academic and educational facilities. It doubled the institution’s number of nursing seats from 100 to 200. In addition, 150 skilled nursing staff have already been recruited, more appointments are in progress to meet the growing healthcare demands and also a new Cath Lab is expected to become operational in the next 7-8 months, said Mr. Namoshi, adding that ₹ 50 lakh per annum has been allocated for outsourced sanitation services to ensure better hygiene and patient care at Basaveshwar hospital.
