Police launch probe as teen found dead in school’s courtyard | World | News

A 17-year-old student was found dead at a public high school in Bordeaux on Tuesday morning. The teenager was found unresponsive by staff in the courtyard of Michel-Montaigne High School shortly after 7 a.m., the regional newspaper reported. Sud Ouest.

Emergency services were called immediately, but paramedics were unable to resuscitate him and he was pronounced dead at the scene in the Chartrons area. While the police took security measures in the area, they launched an investigation to determine the cause of the death.

While no official information about the cause of death has been announced, the investigation continues. An autopsy was planned.

The psychological support unit of the high school, which has approximately 1,500 students, was activated and counselors served students and staff throughout the day.

The school administration confirmed the death of a student and expressed deep sadness in a brief statement sent to parents and cited by both news outlets.

Bordeaux Municipality also issued a condolence message and stated that it provided support to the school community.

On Tuesday morning, police took security measures around the courtyard and journalists gathered outside the entrance.

The newspaper published photos of the secure site and described the heavy atmosphere between students and teachers.
