Siddhanth Kapoor appears before Mumbai Police
Siddhanth Kapoor, son of veteran actor Shakti Kapoor and brother of actress Shraddha Kapoor, was questioned for nearly five hours by the Mumbai Police in connection with the drug seizure case on Tuesday. Siddhanth arrived at the Anti-Narcotics Cell’s (ANC) Ghatkopar unit in suburban Mumbai earlier in the day to record his statement. Earlier, Siddhanth was arrested on drug consumption charges in Bengaluru in 2022.
The interrogation of the actor lasted about five hours, after which he was allowed to leave, authorities said, without giving further details. Before acting in films like Ugly, Paltan, Jazbaa and Chehre, Siddhanth worked as an assistant director in Bhagam Bhag, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Chup Chup Ke. He played Dawood Ibrahim in the 2017 crime drama Haseena Parkar, based on Dawood’s sister. Her sister Shraddha played the lead character in the Apoorva Lakhia directorial.
The ANC summoned the famous name Orhan Awatramani, alias Orry, for recording his statement in the same case on 26 November. The ANC’s Ghatkopar unit summoned the two celebrities after their names emerged during the interrogation of Mohammed Salim Suhail Shaikh, one of the key accused in the Rs 252-crore mephedrone seizure case. According to the police, Shaikh had claimed that some film stars, fashion celebrities, a politician and Dawood’s relatives attended the wild parties organized by him in India and abroad.
Shaikh, also known as ‘Lavish’, was deported from Dubai last month. He was first arrested during the seizure of Rs 252 crore mephedrone in Sangli in Maharashtra and was later arrested by the ANC’s Ghatkopar unit. He is a close aide of drug lord Salim Dola, who controls the production and distribution of mephedrone in various states.
