NYC street takeover ends with car torched, couple beaten in ‘planned attack’

Newly released video shows the aftermath of a violent neighborhood street takeover in New York City over the weekend that ended with a car torched and a couple beaten in what authorities called a “planned attack.”

According to the NYPD, the incident broke out around 12:30 a.m. Sunday after a large group of drivers descended on South Drive and 141st Street in Malba, a neighborhood in Queens.

According to video shared by City Councilwoman Vickie Paladino, who represents the neighborhood, vehicles were seen speeding on residential lawns and doing donuts in the street as the scene descended into chaos.

As events progressed, private security guard Larry Rusch, who lives in the area, heard the commotion outside his home and went outside to discover approximately 40 vehicles speeding down the street. accordingly New York Post.

In an attempt to deescalate the situation, Rusch reportedly parked one of his vehicles at the intersection to prevent drivers from causing further damage.

“As soon as I did that, everyone started leaving,” Rusch told The Post. “Then two people went towards the car. They somehow threw fireworks or something and burned the car. Then the fight started again.”

In the video shared by Paladino, a burning vehicle can be seen in the middle of the residential street, while many vehicles are speeding around.

Local resident Blake Ferrer was also injured while trying to defend his property from a rowdy group of motorists, The Post reported.

“When I walked out, I said, ‘Bro, you gotta get off my property,'” Ferrer said. “That’s when it all started.”

The gang reportedly turned its attention to Ferrer, with footage showing a group of men attacking the homeowner and his wife, with the man allegedly suffering a broken nose, shoulder and ribs.

A third resident also had objects thrown at his car during the incident, The Post reported.

“[The community] Speaking to “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday morning, Paladino said that for the past two years he has been plagued with home burglaries, burglaries, car thefts and these wise men who are plaguing the entire city.

In a video shared by Paladino on social media, the councilman can be seen standing next to Rusch and pointing out skid marks along the road and his burned vehicle with its windows blown out.

Paladino also reportedly met with several residents who were injured in the melee or saw their property destroyed.

“Last night at 12:30, a hundred animals flocked to this neighborhood,” Paladino said. “When you drive around, you’ll see the skid marks. But most importantly, I want you to take a look at this car. They actually set a car on fire, terrorizing this neighborhood.”

In an earlier statement, Paladino blasted the NYPD’s response time to the scene, adding that residents who called 911 to report the incident were informed that “the quality of life team and 311 should handle the situation.”

However, the NYPD said in a statement to Fox News Digital that the first responding officer was diverted to a more serious call, but when authorities received word that the incident had been upgraded to a higher priority, an officer was quickly dispatched to the scene.

But Paladino expressed concern about the lack of accountability within the city for similar cases, adding: “These incidents are happening across the city, and they’re happening because there are no real consequences for these types of crimes anymore.”

“This was a planned attack,” Paladino said on “Fox & Friends.” “This was all pre-planned. They were prepared to do exactly what they did.”
