Pensions LIVE: Salary sacrifice changes in Budget 2025 spark confusion | Politics | News

Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch accused Chancellor Rachel Reeves of breaking her promises on tax.

While calling on the Prime Minister to sack Reeves, Badenoch expressed hope that the Chancellor’s second budget would be his last.

Ms Badenoch told Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer: “If she had any backbone she would fire him.” He said the Chancellor had given him “a nightmare before Christmas”. And he said he criticized MS Reeves for “wallowing in self-pity.”

He added: “We have been fed inflated pieces in the Times and FT showing a woman wallowing in self-pity, whining about ‘man-hatred’ and ‘misogyny’.

Let me explain to the Chancellor, woman to woman, that people there are not complaining because she is a woman, they are complaining because she is completely incompetent.” Ms Badenoch added: “She is spineless, shameless and completely pointless!”
