Two members shot near White House, suspect in custody
Washington: Two members of the National Guard were shot in downtown Washington, D.C., two blocks from the White House.
Dozens of police, Secret Service and ambulance vehicles rushed to the scene near the corner of 17th and I Streets around 2:30 p.m. Washington time.

According to AP news, citing a source, it was stated that two National Guard members were in critical condition after the attack. In this tagline, a person was seen being pulled into a waiting ambulance just after 14.30.
The Metropolitan Police Department said a suspect is in custody. The AP reported that the suspect was shot.
US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said in a post on X that the White House is in quarantine because US President Donald Trump is in Florida.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “The White House is aware of this tragic situation and is actively monitoring it. The President has been informed.”

“The animal that shot two National Guardsmen, both of whom were seriously injured and is currently being treated in two separate hospitals, is also seriously injured, but no matter what, it will pay a very heavy price,” he said.
