“It is very likely to move north-northwestward along the Sri Lankan coast towards the southwestern Bay of Bengal and reach the southwestern Bay of Bengal near the coast of northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining southern Andhra Pradesh in the early morning hours of November 30,” the IMD said.

Today’s weather: Heavy rain warning for Tamil Nadu
Cyclone Ditwah is likely to move north-northwestward along the coast of Sri Lanka and adjacent southwestern Bay of Bengal and reach the southwestern Bay of Bengal near the coast of northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjacent southern Andhra Pradesh by the morning of November 30, the IMD said. Strong coastal winds, heavy rain and hazardous sea conditions are expected for the next few days following the cyclonic storm.
IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rains in Tamil Nadu till November 30, adding that the southern state may receive isolated extremely heavy rains on November 28 and 29. IMD has issued a red alert for Tamil Nadu’s Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai, signaling the possibility of more than 20 cm of rain in the next 24 hours. Cyclone Ditwah: Heavy rains along Andhra Pradesh coast
The weather department has predicted heavy to very heavy rains for coastal Andhra Pradesh from November 28 to December 2. Cyclone Ditwah is expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds to South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema regions. Due to the cyclone impact, heavy rainfall is expected in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP) and Rayalaseema for three days from Saturday.
Chittoor, Tirupati, Nellore, Prakasam, YSR Kadapa, Annamayya and Sri Sathya Sai districts are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rains for two days from November 29, it said.

“Under the influence of Cyclonic Storm Ditwah [Pronunciation: Ditwah] Heavy to very heavy rains are expected over the southwestern Bay of Bengal and adjacent Sri Lankan coast, Tamil Nadu from 27 to 30 November, with isolated extremely heavy rains on 28 and 29 November; Possible heavy to very heavy rainfall over Rayalaseema from 28 November to 01 December 2025 and isolated extremely heavy falls on 30 November; Heavy to very heavy rainfalls also likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and Rayalaseema from 28 November to 02 December 2025, isolated extremely heavy rainfalls on 30 November and isolated heavy rainfalls over Kerala & Mahe from 27 to 29; Over Telangana on 30 November and 01 December; over Southern Interior Karnataka on 29 November 2025,” IMD said in a press release.
Storm winds near the center can produce gusts of up to 60-80 km/h and 90 km/h, while the outer bands are expected to send gusts of up to 35-45 km/h. Similar wind conditions are likely to be seen in parts of the Arabian Sea close to Kerala, Lakshadweep and the Maldives. Fishermen have been advised to stay away from large parts of the Bay of Bengal for the next five days.
“Thunderstorms with gusty wind speeds reaching 30-40 are very likely over Tamil Nadu on 27 November-1 December; over Kerala and Mahe on 27-29 November; over Andhra Pradesh and Yanam Coast from 28 November to 01 December; over Northern interior Karnataka on 30-1 December and over Southern Interior Karnataka and Andaman and Nicobar Islands on 29-30 November.” Kmph on 28th and 29th and 40-50 Kmph on November 27,” he added.The IMD has advised fishermen, especially those already offshore, to completely avoid the southern, central, southwestern and southeastern parts of the Bay of Bengal for the next five days.
