Kashmir experiences coldest November since 2007; Mercury in Srinagar drops to -4.5°C

Kashmir experienced its coldest November since 2007, with minimum temperatures dropping below freezing in many areas, officials said on Friday, November 28, 2025.
Srinagar recorded its coldest night of the season on Thursday, November 27, 2025, with the minimum temperature falling to -4.5°C, down from -4.4°C the previous night, officials said.
There has been a continuous decrease in night temperatures in the city for the last few days. They said the night temperature in Srinagar was more than four degrees below seasonal norms.
According to officials, various weather stations in the valley recorded the lowest night temperatures in November since 2007. Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of -4.8°C on 28 November 2007, while the all-time lowest November temperature in the city was -7.8°C recorded in 1934.
Konibal in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district was the coldest place recorded in the valley last night, recording a minimum temperature of -6°C, officials said.
The mercury in Qazigund, the gateway town to the valley, settled at -4.4°C and the minimum temperature in Kupwara in north Kashmir was -4.8°C.
The minimum temperature in Kokernag in south Kashmir was -1.8°C, -5.5°C in Pahalgam tourist resort and -1.4°C in Gulmarg ski resort, officials said.
The meteorological department has predicted mostly dry weather across Kashmir till December 10 and said there are chances of further decline in night temperatures.
