Russia first country to formally recognise Taliban rule

Russia became the first country to officially recognize the Taliban government in Afghanistan, as Moscow’s seizing power in 2021 after removing the group from the list of illegal organizations.
Russian Foreign Ministry, Afghanistan’s newly appointed Ambassador Gul Hassan Hassan’dan announced that the identity information. The official recognition of the Afghan government in a statement will encourage “productive bilateral cooperation”.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Afghanistan called the Historical Step, and the Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi welcomed “a good example for other countries”.
The Taliban seized Afghanistan in August 2021 after the withdrawal of the US and NATO forces. Since then, they have sought international recognition when implementing their strict interpretations of Islamic law.
Although no country has officially recognized the Taliban administration so far, the group had made high -level talks with many nations and established some diplomatic ties with countries, including Chinese and United Arab Emirates.
Nevertheless, the Taliban government was relatively isolated on the world scene, largely on its restrictions on women.
Although Taliban initially promised a more moderate rule than the first clues in power from 1996 to 2001, it began to implement restrictions on women and girls shortly after 2021. While women are banned from work and publicly, including parks, bathrooms and gyms, the girls are banned from education beyond the sixth grade.
Russian officials have recently emphasized the need to interact with the Taliban to stabilize Afghanistan and banned the Taliban in April.
Russia’s Ambassador of Afghanistan Dmitry Zhirnov said that the decision to officially recognize the Taliban government by President Vladimir Putin on the advice of Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in his statements published by State Channel One Television.
Zhirnov said that the decision proved that Russia was “sincere efforts to develop full -fledged relations with Afghanistan”.
