NIT-W 23rd convocation: Graduates urged to embrace curiosity and avoid comparisons

WARANGAL

Anand Ramamoorthy, Vice President and Managing Director, Micron India, urged NIT-Warangal graduates to embrace curiosity and avoid comparison, along with building a professional network to achieve success in their careers.

Ramamoorthy, who was the chief guest of the ceremony, said that Artificial Intelligence should be used as a launching pad for innovation. Guest of Honour, Secretary, Defense Research and Development Agency and Director, DRDO, Samir V. Kamat, urged the students to consider DRDO as one of their placement options to contribute to nation building.

Giving details of the institution’s achievements, NIT-W Director Bidyadhar Subudhi said that they witnessed record placements in 2025-26. He added that the institute has secured 118 funded projects worth ₹45.65 crore, 51 new patents and increased startup activity through its Innovation and Incubation Centre.

In this first-ever award of honorary degrees by NIT-W, the awardees are: Samir V. Kamat (Doctor of Science) for his outstanding contribution to indigenous defense technologies and N. Venu (and Doctor of Philosophy), Managing Director and CEO (India and South Asia), Hitachi Energy for his significant contribution to India’s sustainable energy transition.

953 B.Tech, 556 M.Tech, 149 M.Sc, 38 MBA, 56 MCA, 142 Ph.D. and 19 exit degrees (B.Sc., B.Sc. Honors, PG Diploma) were awarded to a total of 1,913 students. Director’s Gold Medal Winners: B.Tech Overall Winner: Mr. Palacharla Sri Satya Naveen – Computer Science and Engineering, MSc Overall Winner: Ms. Konda Shoushya – Power Systems Engineering and MBA/MCA/MSc Overall Winner: Mr. Rohan Gupta – MSc. (Organic chemistry).
