The incident took place at around 10.45 yesterday morning at the Hampton by Hilton hotel in Westfield (pictured), which has been used to accommodate refugees since 2023.
West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine MP Andrew Bowie said: ‘This is deeply disturbing. I have been in contact with the Police in the past regarding security arrangements at the hotel and will be addressing this again on behalf of the community.
‘The most important thing now is that they have the time and space to investigate this incident.’
Many protests by anti-immigration groups have been accompanied by counter-protests in recent months.
A Home Office spokesman said: ‘This is a terrible incident and our thoughts are with those affected. Violence in refugee accommodation is unacceptable and perpetrators will face the full force of the law.
‘The safety and welfare of all asylum seekers remains a priority for the Home Office and we are determined to ensure they receive the support and protection they need.’
