Union Minister Pemmasani launches development works in Vatticherukuru mandal

Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, along with Prathipadu MLA B. Ramanjaneyulu, inaugurated a series of development works in many villages in Vatticherukuru mandal on Saturday (November 29). Addressing the residents of the region, the Minister praised the “sweetness of the name of the village” and the “agricultural spirit” of the people, and wholeheartedly greeted the farmers and villagers.
Dr. Pemmasani expressed his happiness with an irrigation tank developed by the community, saying it was an inspiring model for other villages. He criticized the previous YSRCP government for not utilizing the ₹14,000 crore allocated to Andhra Pradesh under the Jal Jeevan Mission between 2019 and 2024, resulting in the funds being returned unused. He said the current government has revived the program to ensure that aid reaches the state.
The Minister noted that despite limited revenue, Andhra Pradesh spends ₹ 35,000 crore annually on pensions and ₹ 65,000 crore on welfare schemes such as Thalliki Vandanam, free bus travel and Annadata Sukhibhava. While assuring that the government will continue to be committed to prosperity and development under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, he emphasized the need for massive industry and investment to increase State revenue.
He also promised that the long-awaited Guntur Canal project, which will benefit more than 11 mandals, will also start soon. MLA Ramanjaneyulu said the mandal is continuously receiving necessary infrastructure, including CC roads, drains and culverts. The leaders then distributed CMRF checks to eligible beneficiaries.
