Alex Scott is leaving I’m A Celebrity early to return to England and be with partner Jess Glynne while he deals with his mother’s brain surgery.

The 41-year-old broadcaster became the first person to be eliminated from Jungle on Friday night, but when he couldn’t see the Hold My Hand singer, 36, on the bridge, he realized his mother Alexandra was not well.

The celebrities are required to stay in Australia for the entire time until the final contestant is eliminated, but Alex broke it to go home and support Jess.

Alex said: ‘It’s been a tough few months but Jess said I want you to come on the show and do this for my mum.

‘It’s been difficult because I want to be here for the celebration party and I have to get home immediately.

‘She’s my Jessica and I’m going home to be her rock. My campmates knew what I was going through and I want to thank everyone at ITV and my campmates because they all showed me so much support.

Jess, 36, revealed her mother Alexander had a major stroke and underwent brain surgery, and Alex, 41, will be returning to the UK to be with her.

She revealed that her Alexandra almost didn’t make it to the Australian Outback after suffering a massive stroke that left her needing brain surgery.

In an emotional interview with the Daily Mail, Alex, 41, revealed that it was singer Jess who convinced him to leave despite the devastating news in the family; But she spent her time on the ITV show fearing her mother’s condition could get worse if her partner wasn’t there to meet her at the forest bridge.

Speaking after his exit from the show on Friday night, Alex said: ‘It was a difficult time for us and of course his family and it was a difficult decision to come to the jungle.

‘But Jess never wanted me to stop doing it. If his mother wasn’t getting better, or if things were getting worse, which they did, I knew there was always a chance he wouldn’t be able to cross the bridge.

‘But it was a big decision for me to jump at this opportunity, and Jess was the one who pushed me to be here.’

The couple had kept their family’s grief a secret while the BBC One Show host was on the reality show. But after he became the first person eliminated on Friday night and questions arose about why Miss Glynne wasn’t there to greet him, as were friends and family, the Hold My Hand singer broke his silence.

She wrote on Instagram: ‘I wanted to share something personal, in the last few weeks my mum had a massive stroke and needed emergency surgery.

‘It was a really serious, life-changing time for my family and I had to stay close to home. Alex always wanted me to be where I was needed most. ‘I can’t wait to have him with me again.’
