‘Stop blaming Meghan Markle for absurd blunder – it wasn’t her fault’ | Royal | News

Meghan Markle’s latest interview caught people’s attention because of a strange moment; But this may not be the duchess’s fault. In a chat with Harper’s Bazaar magazine, Meghan spoke glowingly of her husband Prince Harry, revealing that she was impressed by his “childlike curiosity and playfulness.”
She also told how delighted she was that her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, were able to watch her as she bravely took the step from making jam in her kitchen to creating her own lifestyle brand, As Ever. But one moment Meghan mocked in the interview was when the journalist revealed that when she went to meet the former actress for a second time at a house in New York, the house manager grandly introduced her as “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex”, despite there being no one else in sight.
Meghan has been criticized in the past for sticking to her title despite her and Harry’s decision to step away from their royal roles five years ago.
Royal expert Jennie Bond told Mirror the intro was “ridiculous” but maybe it wasn’t Meghan’s fault.
The former BBC royal correspondent explained: “This feels ridiculous given the context in which the interviewer was meeting Meghan for a second time and the first was relatively informally sharing a burger and fries in a restaurant.
“So I suspect this is a housemaster who is overly smug about the fact that there is a Duchess in the house.
“Americans tend to get very excited about titles. This was at a friend’s house and the staff was probably overzealous.
“She doesn’t quite seem like the bouncy, friendly Meghan we’ve seen portrayed elsewhere. So I don’t think we should start criticizing Meghan for that.”
Meghan and Prince Harry moved to the US in 2020 and have lived there ever since.
