Cyclone Ditwah tracker: Where is cyclone Ditwah and when will it make landfall? IMD warns of heavy rain in Andhra, Tamil Nadu and other states

A red alert has been issued for the coasts of northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining southern Andhra Pradesh as ‘Ditwah’ is expected to move north-northwestward and reach the southwestern Bay of Bengal near the Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast early in the morning of November 30. IMD advised residents to stay indoors, avoid coastal areas and follow local government instructions. Fishermen have been warned not to swim along the affected coasts.

Hurricane Ditwah making landfall
Cyclone Ditwah caused massive devastation in Sri Lanka, leaving the island nation on Saturday afternoon, leaving at least 153 people dead and 191 missing, Reuters reported. Now, India has been put on high alert as Cyclone Ditwah moves north-northwestward over the southwestern Bay of Bengal, heading towards the North Tamil Nadu-Puducherry-South Andhra Pradesh coast.
IMD gave its last update on Cyclone ‘Ditwah’ at 2.55 am and said, “It is very likely to move almost northwards parallel to the North Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coastline in the next 24 hours. As the cyclonic storm moves northward, it will be centered in the south-west of the Bay of Bengal, at least 50 km and 25 km from the Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coastline, respectively, during the early morning hours today and the evening of November 30.” Sunday.
According to the latest bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department, the system is very likely to move almost northwards parallel to the North Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast in the next 24 hours. IMD predicts that Ditwah will move almost northward, running parallel to the Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coastline in the next 24 hours. The storm is expected to approach 50 km from the coast in the early morning hours and 25 km by the evening. This situation poses a significant risk in terms of heavy rainfall, strong winds and wavy sea conditions on the coastline. However, no landfall is expected. Heavy rain expected in Chennai
Strong winds and choppy sea conditions were witnessed in Chennai as Cyclone Ditwah approached the Tamil Nadu capital, ANI reported. IMD has issued a yellow alert warning for several districts in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, including Chennai, for the next three hours. Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected in these regions.
IMD meteorology general director Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra told ANI the path the storm will take after leaving Sri Lanka.
“There may be slight intensification. With this wind speed, the cyclone storm will continue to move north-northwestward and will reach the coasts of North Tamil Nadu and Puducherry by 30 am,” Mohapatra told news agency.
Heavy to very heavy rains are expected at many places with extremely heavy rain at isolated places in Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Villuppuram, Chengalpattu and Puducherry-Karaikal districts. Other districts including Thanjavur, Tiruchirappalli, Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Ranipet are likely to witness heavy rains; Isolated areas in Vellore, Dharmapuri, Dindigul and Theni may also experience significant showers.
