Tributes flow for pilot killed after two planes crash mid-air in southwest Sydney

Commemorations are being held for the pilot who died when two planes collided in the air southwest of Sydney.

Two light aircraft collided in mid-air before one of the planes crashed into nearby woodland.

Emergency services teams found the body of the pilot, who was thought to be the only occupant of the plane.

The other plane managed to land safely at the airport, and the pilot escaped unhurt.

The fatal collision occurred just before noon around Napperfield Airfield at Wedderburn, near Appin.
