Haryana registration plate HR88B8888 became the talk of the town when it was sold for Rs 1.17 crore last week. A businessman from Haryana named Sudhir Kumar secured the plate for a huge sum, making it the most expensive plate in India. However, according to NDTV, if the bidder does not pay the amount within the specified time, the license plate will be put up for auction again. The deadline for the payment of Rs 1.17 billion was 12:00 on Monday, December 1.
Kumar, director of transport service Romulus Solutions Private Limited, received the number plate after two days of tendering. On Sunday, Kumar said that he tried to deposit the bid amount twice on Saturday night but failed due to a technical glitch. He also said his family was against spending huge amounts on license plates.
“Currently, discussions with the family are ongoing. While the elders of the family think that it is not a wise decision to spend such a large amount on a license plate, this is my opinion. We will make our final decision by Monday,” he said.
