Chennai: Three injured as wall collapses on makeshift eatery at Dashamakan

At least three people were injured when a part of an old building collapsed and fell on a makeshift restaurant on Darga Street in Chennai’s Dashamakan on Tuesday evening, December 2, 2025. The incident occurred around 21.15 and the injured were taken to hospital.

The injured were identified as Hafeez (44), Ayub Khan (55) and Nisha (48). Fire and rescue personnel along with Purasawalkam Tahsildar Kuppammal Ramu reached the spot soon after the incident. The site was in Ward 73 of District 6 of Greater Chennai Corporation. The old building was not occupied.

SDPI official in the field, Ziyaullah, said, “There were two to three restaurants there when the wall fell on the roof of the restaurant around 9.15 pm. The couple running the shop and one other person were injured. They were taken to KMC by ambulance.”

The SDPI official said that this is the first time such an incident has been reported in the main district. “The building owner must provide medical treatment and support to the injured.” He also pointed out that the old buildings in the region pose a danger to the people of the region.
