Four arrested as part of investigation into extreme right-wing terrorism

Counter Terrorism Police South East (CTPSE) said four people were arrested in Eastbourne and Brighton as part of an investigation into far-right terrorism.

The arrests were made by specialist officers on Thursday as part of a planned intelligence-led operation against far-right terrorism.

CTPSE said a 27-year-old woman from Hailsham was arrested along with three men aged 33, 36 and 41 from Eastbourne.

They were all arrested under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000 and are currently being held in police custody; Searches at residences continue.

Assistant Chief Constable Steve Rayland of Sussex Police said: “I recognize that investigations of this nature may cause concern to people in the local community, but I would like to emphasize that the arrests are part of a planned operation to keep people in our communities safe.”
