One migrant group made Minnesota a ‘hellhole’ warns Trump | US | News

Donald Trump called Minnesota a “hellhole,” accusing a particular group of immigrants of “destroying our country” at a press conference Wednesday afternoon. This statement was made after the president announced changes to nationwide fuel consumption requirements as part of his plan to revamp energy policy and support the fossil fuel industry.
He interrupted the reporter when asked about his recent criticism of Somali immigrants and also criticized politicians in Minnesota.
“Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey says he’s proud to have the largest Somali community in the country, and the police chief says…” the reporter began.
“Then he’s an idiot. I wouldn’t be proud to have the greatest Somali. Look at their nation. Look how bad their nation is. Their nation; just people running around and killing each other,” the president retorted.
He then accused Somali immigrants of “taking billions of dollars out of our country.”
His next target was Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn), who is of Somali descent. He repeated claims that she married his brother and called him a “cheater”.
“He shouldn’t be allowed to be a member of Congress, and I’m sure people are looking at that. And he should be the hell out of our country,” Trump said.
Omar is a naturalized American citizen and has represented Minnesota’s 5th congressional district since 2019. He legally immigrated to the United States with his family in 1995, sought asylum after escaping the Somali Civil War, and received citizenship in 2000 at the age of 17.
Trump accused her and the entire Somali community in Minneapolis (which all fall within Omar’s congressional district) of destroying the state and the nation.
His next attack was directed at Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who served as vice president during former Vice President Kamala Harris’ candidacy last year.
“You have an incompetent governor in Minnesota. You have a crooked governor; grossly crooked but incompetent. Walz should be ashamed,” Trump said.
He then demanded the deportation of all Somalis in Minnesota and across the country.
“That beautiful land, that beautiful state is a hellhole right now and Somalis should get out of here.
“They destroyed our country and all they do is complain, complain, complain,” he said.
