Australia v England scores, results, start time, wickets, teams, how to watch
Here we go. It’s 3pm on a stinking, hot Friday in December. If you’re holding on to the tools for the sweet, sweet embrace of Test cricket, take a good look at yourself.
The players are in the middle, a sold-out Gabba and Joe Root batting on 135 with Brendan Doggett to take our first shot of the second day.

First ball: Short for starters from Doggett. Root’s eyes are out and he plays a pull shot towards the square leg man.
Second ball: There isn’t that much bounce in tracking. Root swings, pulling it towards fine leg in one go.
Third ball: I attacked Jofra Archer again. It goes under easily.
Fourth ball: Another short ball, only up to Archer’s hips, draws him towards the deep man.
Fifth ball: You guessed it, short again. Down leg and Root is inside it, comfortably hanging on to fine leg for another run.
Sixth ball: This was a little more hopeful; Archer captured this unseen sight. He managed to keep the ball down and take the deep single, but his eyes didn’t follow the ball at that moment.
Mitchell Starc continues towards Archer at the other end.
England 9-329 Root 137*, Archer 34* lead with 329 runs
