Birmingham doctor charged with sexually assaulting patients

A doctor has been accused of sexually assaulting 38 patients under his care, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said.

Nathaniel Spencer, 38, of Quinton, Birmingham, is charged with 15 counts of sexual assault, 17 counts of assault by penetration and nine counts of sexual assault on a child under 13.

Mr Spencer also faces three counts of assault on a child under 13 by penetration and one count of attempted assault by penetration.

The charges follow an investigation by Staffordshire Police focusing on offenses against 38 patients in Stoke-on-Trent and Dudley between 2017 and 2021.

Police said they were investigating allegations of sexual offenses at Royal Stoke University Hospital and Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.

Mr Spencer is due to appear at North Staffordshire Justice Center on 20 January 2026.

The CPS said the decision to prosecute followed a “detailed and complex investigation by Staffordshire Police”.

Mr Spencer has been suspended from medical practice in the UK pending the outcome of the investigation.
