Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shares BIG update, says, ‘Two such…’

Earlier this year, the Railway Minister announced that the launch would only take place after the second train was fully ready for normal service.

Vande Bharat sleeper train is one of the highly anticipated projects of Indian Railways. The train will transform the long-distance travel experience for passengers. The new variant of Vande Bharat Express aims to offer enhanced comfort, speed and a world-class travel experience. Now Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has shared the latest updates on Vande Bharat Sleeper trains.

Responding to questions raised by Lok Sabha MP PC Mohan, the minister, in a written reply on December 3, said: “To cater for long and medium distance night travel, the Sleeper version of the Vande Bharat train has been indigenously designed. Two such rakes have been produced and are in trial/commissioning stage. The Vande Bharat Sleeper version has faster acceleration and deceleration.” In September this year, Vaishnaw announced that the launch would take place only after the second train is fully ready for normal service. This train was also produced by BEML using ICF technology.

Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Features

The new Vande Bharat sleeper train has 16 coaches, including 11 AC 3-tier, 4 AC 2-tier and one AC First class compartment for passengers.

The Vande Bharat sleeper train will be a semi-high-speed self-propelled train set with a top speed of 160 kmph and a test speed of 180 kmph.

Vande Bharat sleeper aims to offer superior levels of comfort with well-equipped coaches and padded beds.

Advanced bio-vacuum toilets, similar to those on airplanes, are installed throughout the facility. The train accommodates disabled passengers and includes babysitting facilities. AC Premium quarters offer shower facilities with hot water supply.

Domestic KAVACH collision avoidance technology protects these trains. They include regenerative braking systems to optimize energy consumption.

Buses have the feature of automatically connecting doors between compartments. Passageways are fully insulated for a dust-free environment and temperature regulation.
