Four arrested after Tower of London display case containing State Crown defaced

Four people were arrested after bits of pudding and apples were thrown at a display case containing some of the Crown Jewels in the Tower of London.

Police were called shortly before 10am GMT on Saturday after the box containing the Imperial State Crown was defaced.

The Metropolitan Police said four people were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and the Tower’s Jewelery House was closed to the public while the police investigation continued.

Take Back Power, which describes itself as a new non-violent civil resistance group, claimed that it was behind the action.

The group said it took this action to demand that the UK government establish a permanent assembly of citizens (a “People’s House”) with the power to “tax excessive wealth and fix Britain”.
