BRS Leaders Detained Ahead of CM’s Devarakonda Meet

Nalgonda: Police took preventive custody of several BRS leaders at different places in Nalgonda district to prevent them from staging protests during Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s meeting in Devarakonda.
Former Nalgonda MLA and BRS leader Kancherla Bhupal Reddy was detained at Angadipeta while he was on his way to Kodad in his vehicle and was shifted to Nalgonda Town-I police station. There was a heated argument between him and the police. Bhupal Reddy questioned why the police did not arrest the people who allegedly forced the BC leader to consume urine after kidnapping him. He asked whether police officers who fail to act in such situations have the moral standing to detain him. He said that he would go to Devarakonda as a “farmer legislator” to bring people’s problems to the notice of the Chief Minister and accused the police of behaving like Congress members.
Police also picked up Nalgonda town BRS president Bhongiri Devender, BRS state general secretary Bommaraboina Nagarjuna and other leaders from their homes in Nalgonda and shifted them to Nalgonda Town-II police station. BRS leaders from Devarakonda were also taken into preventive custody on Friday night. After the Chief Minister’s program in Devarakonda was over, the police released them.
Considering BRS’s call to stage a protest, detailed security arrangements have been made for the Prime Minister’s meeting. A total of 1,250 police personnel including two Superintendents of Police (SP), two ASPs, 10 DSPs, 36 CIs, 115 SIs, constables and rapid response teams have been deployed for the security of the event.
