He plays in a competition on Friday nights. And this was an epiphany for me too. Is there anything more relaxing than sitting on the fence at the end of a working week and watching youth cricket? Since the games are played on neighborhood ovals, there will also be people walking their dogs or playing soccer nearby as the sun begins to set. We were playing in Curtin on Halloween night and a bunch of witches and goblins were walking past us. It gives me all the Norman Rockwell vibes with an Aussie twist. (Although cricket veterans tell me I’ll be less in love on Saturdays when matches are played all day. Maybe.)
