Prince Harry jokes that life with the Royal Family was ‘like Downton Abbey’- but that the tv show had less drama

Prince Harry has joked that life with the Royal Family is “like Downton Abbey” but with more “drama” than the hit series.
Speaking at the British American Business Council’s (BABC) LA luncheon on Friday, the Duke of Sussex reportedly cracked a series of jokes about the “drama and intrigue” of his upbringing, as well as wearing skirts and the differences between the UK and the US.
Addressing the “new world” of American life and Fourth of July festivities, he joked that celebrating U.S. independence means “more specifically, independence from my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather.” People magazine.
“People sometimes ask if growing up with the Royal family is like Julian in Downton Abbey,” he said.

“Yes, but only one of these worlds is full of drama, intrigue, fancy dinners, marriages to Americans; the other is a TV show.”
The jokes came as the event was a tribute to Downton Abbey creator Lord Julian Fellowes, also known for TV series Gosford Park and From Time to Time.
During his speech, Prince Harry reportedly also joked about US President Donald Trump’s immigration policies and the upcoming World Cup, and said his British friends would have to “behave, go through customs and get past ICE” to see England play in the tournament.
It comes after the Duke of Sussex made an unexpected appearance on Stephen Colbert’s US talk show on Wednesday, revealing himself as a version of himself auditioning for the role of a “Christmas prince” in the Hallmark movie.
During the episode, he railed against the US’s “obsession” with royalty and said the country had “elected a king” in reference to the president, prompting pantomime boos from the audience.
The joke turned out to be a reference to the non-violent “No to Kings” movement protesting Trump’s “authoritarian” policies.
