Concerns raised over growing menace of ganja sale

Leaders of the AP United Teachers Federation (APUTF) on Sunday expressed grave concern over the growing danger of marijuana sales and its subsequent addiction among students in the state.
In their statement, UTF State President N. Venkateswarlu and general secretary KSS Prasad said that the government should take strict action against those who resort to selling ganja. They said that awareness raising activities against the danger of drugs should also be expanded.
UTF leaders said the government should take into consideration the intensity of the problem as chocolate, cigarettes and cold drinks containing drugs are readily available to students in areas close to educational institutions. They said teachers should play a key role in protecting students from the harmful effects of the drug menace.
