Donald Trump, the World Cup, and why FIFA is awful

As the ironies of the Trump era pile up, this may soon be a thing of the past. But over the weekend, Donald Trump, the political expression of the “facts don’t care about your feelings” set, received his own made-up participation award. Ahead of next year’s tournament, which will be held partly in the United States, FIFA launched a “FIFA Peace Prize” and, after a rigorous and completely impartial process, awarded the award to the world leader now accused of war crimes for the extrajudicial killings of at least 80 alleged drug traffickers.
