Jasmine Crockett launches Texas Senate campaign using Trump’s insults

Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas launched her Senate campaign on Monday with an ironic ad that used President Donald Trump’s past insults toward her, prompting plenty of backlash on social media.

His campaign was announced in a video published on X on Monday afternoon. The ad showed Crockett standing while Trump’s verbal beats played in the background.

Trump can be heard saying in the video, “How about this new star? Their new star is Crockett. What about her? The new star of the Democratic Party is Jasmine Crockett. They are in big trouble.”

The other day someone said he was one of the leaders of the party. “I said, you must be kidding,” Trump’s voice continued.

“Oh man, oh man. He’s a very low IQ person… now they’re going to trust Crockett. Crockett will bring them back.”

The ad was well received by X’s liberal commentators, who called it a strong debut.

“Jasmine Crockett’s launch ad is fantastic,” wrote Ed Krassenstein.

Jasmine Crockett is running for U.S. Senate and Republicans must be horrified, said Democratic strategist Adam Parkhomenko. “He’s smart, fearless, relentless and doesn’t back down from anyone. This is the matchup Texas deserves. Let’s go.”

On the other side of the political aisle, conservatives and critics reacted to the ad with sarcasm.

“I never thought I’d say this, but I agree with every word of this Jasmine Crockett ad,” reviewer Matt Walsh wrote.

“It was reported a few months ago that Jasmine Crockett’s phone lock screen was a photo of herself,” Republican operative Matt Wolking wrote. he said. “Today’s launch ad continues the theme.”

Speaking at a campaign event in Texas on Monday, Crockett said the “gloves are off” and he is “jumping into the ring.”

“I am asking for your support to become the next U.S. Senator from the largest state in Texas,” he said.

“They tell us Texas is red. They lie, we don’t. The truth is that most Texans don’t go out to vote.”

Crockett also said that he made the decision to run after learning that “the numbers were strongest for my candidacy for the United States Senate.”

“I could have played it safe and continued to serve in the United States House of Representatives as long as my constituents would allow me, but I chose not to do that because Texas, this moment we are in right now, is life or death and all or nothing.” he said. “It’s now or never. We find ourselves at a crossroads.”

The campaign launch event had a lively atmosphere, including an impromptu performance by a musical artist named Cameron McCloud.

McCloud performed a rap song with the lines: “They’re just trying to scare her ’cause they think she’s gonna win / Listen, I told y’all we were never afraid / Now look whose name’s on the file / I’ve got two words for every racist bigot, Jasmine Crockett.”

“Amen, Amen…make some noise for Jasmine Crockett for once,” McCloud told the cheering audience.
