Minor Girl Raped by Autorickshaw Driver in Thirupathi

Amaravati: A minor Dalit girl was allegedly raped by an auto driver who took her to his home on the pretext of helping her relocate, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on December 3, when the girl was moving from one hostel to another and asked for help from the driver she had met before. The driver was identified as Sai Kumar.

“Kumar lured the minor Dalit girl home under the guise of helping her and then raped her,” a police official told PTI.

The girl reported the situation to the police with the help of her friends.

Police said Kumar ran away and switched off his mobile phone, leading police to launch a manhunt

Meanwhile, a case has been registered under relevant sections of the BNS along with provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, 2012.
